Torque Game builder and suitability for publishers

by Paul Thompson · in General Discussion · 12/03/2008 (4:29 pm) · 4 replies

Hi just a quick question, does anyone know if any games published by networks such as Oberon Games have been created using Torque Game Builder? Is it a suitable tool for casual game development from a prospective publishers perspective or does it have issues that need to be addressed in the souce of the engine before distributing to such networks?

Looking forward to hearing anyones comments on this.
Paul

Here is a list of games to compare to portal sites.

Because of the varying requirements of different portal sites, I strongly recommend having the pro version so that you can modify the source to accomplish the hoops they often make you jump through. Some, you may not have to do anything to jump through the hoops. Others will test your code acrobatics like crazy.

Obviously, there are some duplicates, since studios tend to like to publish their casual games on multiple sites. But yes, I think we can say that Torque is a proven casual games solution.

And I just checked Oberon Games and found that "King Kong: Skull Island" and "Saints and Sinners Bowling" are both Torque games that have been published to their site.

Deborah, David, Thanks for your comments (and the time you put in to putting the list together especially Deborah) - it does seem that TGB has a strong lineup on the publishing sites mentioned. Certainly a strong selling point to any potential user of the engine. I thank you both for your time and comments, it has certainly made me understand the level at which TGB is used amongst casual game developers which have managed to publish so far on those portals. Thanks again, Paul
