The Ultra Edit -32 doesnt seem to work on my computer I tried installing it a couple of ways but all it seems to do is bring up a loading bar like the programs runing then the little box closes and nothing else happens and when I try it again I get a message that the program is already running which frustrated me enough to ask does anyone know of a different FREE text editor that I could us in place of this.

one of my favorite things about it is its easy-to-use, low-overhead Macro recording and playback functionality.

the awesome thing about visual studio is that its Find-In-Files function rocks, because it indexes the files and includes unsaved files in the search. searching our whole codebase (including mission files) takes me about three seconds, so i do it a lot.

Another option is to use Visual Studio Express (free).the awesome thing about visual studio is that its Find-In-Files function rocks, because it indexes the files and includes unsaved files in the search. searching our whole codebase (including mission files) takes me about three seconds, so i do it a lot.

Every text editor mentioned here is good, but I have to say that like Orion I'm very happy with CrimsonEditor.
