Can't Access The TDN...?

by David Taylor · in Torque Developer Network · 11/16/2008 (2:38 pm) · 85 replies

For the last few days, I've been trying to gai access to the TDN. If I try, I get taken to the following link: http://tdn.garagegames.com/wiki/&needLogin=1

There, I am asked to log in, even though I'm clearly logged in here. So I click on the login button, and the browser spents quite a while loading, before showing a blank screen at this link: http://tdn.garagegames.com//wiki/reply.php?result=1&id=60533&time=ec272714977bce307ad7332bbc69b2c6&hash=e336324dacde1f85ede7c424e11b829d

There are things that I really want to access at the TDN, but I'm not sure what I've done wrong. Can anyone help?

I believe there's some server trouble on the backend.
they're hoping TDN will be accessible again monday.
another thread on the topic: www.garagegames.com/mg/forums/result.thread.php?qt=80860

@Orion - Thanks for posting the info.

@David - What are you looking for? I might be able to help out.

@Orion - many thanks. I thought I'd defaulted my account, or something! Haha!

@Michael - hopefully you can. I'm looking to start a Match 3 game, and was hoping to get Isaac Barbosa's code as mentioned in this thread: http://www.garagegames.com/mg/forums/result.thread.php?qt=78292

If you can't, you can't - but at least I know the TDN will be back up at some stage. :)

@David - Just checked it out. As I thought, I can't gain access to the physical files right now. Although I don't think this will happen again, I'm currently waiting for a physical back up of TDN.

When I get my hands on that, I'll keep it in an offline archive just in case.

@Michael - all good. Can't be helped. You said you expect it some time on Monday - I'm guessing it's very early morning Monday where you are? (It's midday Monday here, so just trying to work out when I should come back looking for TDN to hopefully be back up!)

@David - I said that was my guess, but I can't put a solid estimate out because this is very much outside my realm of knowledge and control. I'll post as soon as our ops person relays it to me.

Does anyone have the latest update to TC?

@Andrew - As I stated above, when I learn more information or TDN is back up, I will post. There's nothing I can do speed it along.

@Michael - As stated above in my post I asked for the latest update regarding "TC" (Torque Constructor) not "TDN" (Torque Developer Network). The patch for the latest version is stored on TDN and I was trying to see who had it so I could obtain it. Thanks for your update on "TDN" though! :P

Ok, will throw my name in the list of those who can not access TDN:) At least I know its not just me, was pulling my hair out...

@Randy - There's no list =)

I'm subscribed to all 5 "TDN is down" threads that were created, that way I know where to post when it goes back. Please, please do not bump them to say "me too" or "when is it fixed". My mail box is already flooded =)

Michael,

I wonder.... I know that TDN is pretty dynamic in content.... but if GarageGames offered CDs (or downloads) of snap shots of TDN, Official Documentation etc.... I for one would buy if they were reasonably priced. There's nothing worse than wanting to revisit documentation you know exists but can't access it! Thankfully got the 3d all in one book as a backup but doesn't have all the content I was after.

Anyone else think it would be a good idea? I've had to put some development on hold this week simply because I'm waiting for TDN to be back!

Cheers,
Gary

@Gary - If I have any say in the matter (which is guaranteed as long as I am documentation engineer), there will never be a paid requirement for accessing documentation.

The Official Documentation will be available with each SDK, so there's nothing to be done in that area. As far as TDN goes, even after I clean it out it would still take far too long to pull down all that information and distribute it.

However, nothing is stopping anyone from saving the web pages themselves. I do it regularly when I'm converting my docs.

You're absolutely right (and I admire the ethos). I'm partly kicking myself because I generally do download/backup anything I might need. In the case of TDN I probably should have dragged down documentation I might later rely on.

All in all, I assume this kind of blip doesn't happen very often (I'm still quite new around here) and it sounds like you have it under control. Thanks for your efforts!

Cheers,
Gary

Whoa - I think it's back up! I just got bored and tried, (as I have several times over the last few days, haha), and it's up! :)
