Is landscape possible with Vue

Vue 7 has just been released. Now before I purchase this does anybody know if it can be used with torque TGE or TGEA and how easy/hard it is, if it is possible. If this has been covered I'm sorry dont seem to have much luck with searching the forum. Thanks

Ok I guess it could work that way but it would only pull the landscape itself. Hmmmmmmm. Well thanks for the reply. Guess I'll have to buy it and play.

If I were you, I would look into getting Grome...http://www.quadsoftware.com/index.php?m=section&sec=product&subsec=editor&target=editor_screenshots

Does Grome work with TGE? I know it works with TGEA. If it doesnt then it would be an upgrade to TGEA as well. Thanks for the input.

If you are using 3ds max I know you can export your VUE terrian to obj form high res and inport it into 3ds max and do a z-buffer render. This z-buffer generates a depth map. I'm actually doing this with VUE 6 at this moment. Though I need to upgrade to 3ds max 2009 I'm currently using 3ds max 6.

Thanks that sounds like a way to do it.

Yup. That's the way to do it since you need a depth map. It does not support VUE's terrain format (which is not optimized for real-time gaming and is made for various levels of detail for use in procedurally rendered, often over long minutes/hours depending on the complexity of the scene, views.

(I hate how i found this by accident then took 2 hours trying to figure out what key my cat sat on to make that option light up. Give praise to the ninja kittens of the world.)

Actually I found another faster way to do this. in Vue's terrain editor go to the terrian options and change it to standard and not procedual and this enables the export terrain option. you can save the height map directly to a 256x256 PNG which is perfect for importing directly into the terrain editor in torque. Very good to know! In fact, it seems that someone else mentioned it to me and I completely forgot. I really need to get Vue reinstalled and play.
