Need help with animation

I'm a noob when it comes to this. Okay, I can model, i'm cool with that, i know how to do it, not rocket science anymore. Can't animate though. Could someone either help me walk through it (as if you were speaking to a complete idiot) or do it for me as an example?

I am using milkshape 1.6.4. It has a built in animation system but i think its probably pretty bad.

Those links seem to be totally different from what i'm used to with this program :(
