Wierd lighting effects on DTS model

by Michael Chew · in Artist Corner · 10/18/2008 (3:35 am) · 2 replies

I have a house model from Dexsoft. iI imported it from .3ds to max. No problems so far and I am able to render it correctly in max. Then I exported it to dts and use Showtool pro on it.

The faces above and below the windows seem to be receiving different lighting. The faces are actually flat as the rest of the wall. If i turn off lighting in showtool, it will look fine. Does anyone have any ideas whats going on?

thx
mike

Example: www.ipx2.com/temp/problem.jpg; right before Submit post button there is info on how to edit html and links:

You might want to crop that image off that white bleeding area.

The problem with your model has to do with the normals. If you are not sure how the edit normals / smoothing groups in max, just do a quick search on the internet. Is fairly simple.
