You guys hold our games right?

Okay I just thought of something while looking at possible web hosts, I couldn't really find a good one because of the space limitations (we expect our game to be big in size)I rememberd that you guys are the distributers, even for demos and free games. Does that mean that at least ONE copy must be downloadable from you guys, therefore we don't have to have it downloadable from us?

As we move toward our player launch this Fall, we'll provide you wiht more of the details about how the operational aspects of publishing a game work. First, we need to get the V12 out, and that is very close:)

That's pretty black and white. Are there any exceptions. I mean, can I, for instance, have a free downloadable version of our game on the server we're hosted on? We're being hosted by PlanetTribes.com, which is owned by GameSpy. I don't think they're a competetor of GG, so I don't think it would be a problem at all. But if it is a problem I'm assuming I can directly link to the file on your server from our site?
Also, I remember reading somewhere on this site that we (the developers) had the option of keeping our games free. I can't find that text anywhere now. I'm more than sure that I read it here, correct me if I'm wrong.
If you feel that the game is worthy of being sold, do we have the option of also having a free downloadable version? So it can be downloaded if people want to wait out the whole 150+MB download, AND it can be sold for people that don't want to wait for it.
I ask because I want this game to be a success. I want the servers to be full, and I don't think many people will buy it on blind faith. This game WILL be a success if it's kept free.
Thanks,
Chris "Dark" Evans
BTW, our game is at www.planettribes.com/aoe
The site is going to be re-done, and the about section is way outdated. I'm going to have that section removed until I'm sure the specific features are going to be implemented. Also, my position on the team is Lead programmer and developer 1 of 3.

Once your game has met basic requirements (relatively bug-free, not obscene) and can move into the paybin you can set your own price for the game (including free).
I'm sure there will be an option for a free demo and a priced full-version since this will likely be a very common situation.

GG doesn't just get money from people buying your game. They also get money from people buying other games they see when they come to download/buy your game, so it is on their best interest to require everyone to come to GG.com to download your game. It will be very easy for you to put a link on your page to your games download page here on GG.com and it will get you more publicity, save you hard drive space, and save you bandwidth.Once your game has met basic requirements (relatively bug-free, not obscene) and can move into the paybin you can set your own price for the game (including free).
