Selling to GG

by Sam.E · in General Discussion · 09/25/2008 (7:25 pm) · 7 replies

I was just wondering if I made a game and I want to sell it to GG would they accept it and how would I get paid if they did.

P.S How would I go about doing this??

The first step is building a prototype of the game. Its doesn't have to look good or be very complete... it just has to show what makes the game fun. Without this no one will take you seriously.

Now GG is currently not accepting any new titles to the GG.com site, but drop Randy an email for InstantAction.com. If your prototype is fun and fits into the IA portfolio, i'm sure they would be glad to have you.

Assuming you finished out the prototype and built the full game... how you get paid? For most online distribution you get a check mailed to you monthly based on your sales. If there is a publishing deal done before the game is fully built you can sometimes get an advance on future royalties... but thats harder to get with online publishing.

Still... don't get ahead of your self.... build your prototype. If its full everything else becomes easier.

Okay cool, so I should build a small prototype of my game which just shows them how it is played and then if they accept it I send them the full game and soon when people buy it they will send me a monthly check?

Odds are your better off selling the game yourself. Get a paypal account and set up a portal site that you can sell from and go from there.. save yourself 50% profit and do it yourself.
I personally wont go thru GG's site for any game I make but that is my own reasons. I would just say dont hold your breath if you think GG's will sell your game..

And you learn more that way too.

Awesome, also just one last question.. Can I give a link to my website on these forums? This would give my website some traffic and maybe could get people to buy the games and also to play the online game that I am currently working on.

Sure... but what is your target audience? Your gonna reach mostly developers on GG.com.

Go hunting for cheap ad spaces, partner/affiliate programs, etc. I know google has/had a program that combines your Adsense revenue with your Adwords budget so that your Adwords account leaches money from the revenue you made through Adsense - pretty cool and doesn't need to be maintained much.
