Hello, I just started this just to ask questions about TGE and TGB.....

TGE
-----

Q1) Do I have to put the splash screen on my game?? Can I just put a little GarageGames symbol on the title screen and write "Proudly Created With: Torque Game Engine [GG Symnol]".

Q2) How would you make money out of these games? Can you sell them to a local store? Are we allowed to sell them to a local store?

Q1) Same question as above.

Q2) Same question as above.

1) You must display the splash screen unless you purchase a commercial license.

2) The license permits you to sell it anywhere you want. However selling in retail requires a publisher and is typically out of the reach of most indies. I would look into producing a small game and selling it online.

1) Hmm.... So it is possible for me to sell it at a local store? Because I know someone at EB Games who said he will buy the game if it is good although I havn't bought the engine yet since I want to find out this first.

2) How will I sell it on the internet, do you know any website which buy the games?

Check out manifestogames.com They sell indie games on your behalf, I think they take 40% of the sale.

Unless your friend own EB Games, he can't put your game on display. Big companies like that put a high value on retail space, and will not allow a game to be displayed unless it goes through all the proper channels.

You can create your own site and sell it from there, and make 100% of the profit.

Yes, but who would visit it, it would take weeks maybe months before someone visits, and not to mension if someone buys a game off of my website XD.

Even with a commercial license, you must display a splash logo.

@David
Wait, really? Did that change recently?

I think the change affects all engines and updates as of January. So, unless I'm mistaken, if you're still using TGE 1.5.1 with a commercial license, you don't need the splash screen. That's probably also true for the pre TGEA 1.7 stuff. David may be able to clarify on that though.

Q1) If I buy the old version of TGE which is 100 dollars, will I be able to upgrade later with the 50 dollar one and get all of the things that come with the 150 dollar TGE?

What I mean by that is if I buy the old version of TGE and later upgrade, will it be the same as paying 150 dollars for the new one?

Well, you already bought TGB so I guess I don't need to answer these, but I'll do it in case others search and land here.

We have discontinued the old version you are referencing from our store options. TGE 1.5 is the only version and is currently $150. The upgrade cost was marginal, though.

EDIT:
Missed your TGB question.

Not sure what you mean about GG buying your game. If it meets internal standards and fits our store, then we may license it for publication. But we don't own you game if you use our engines. You do not have to pay royalties to us, either.

EDIT 2: (I just keep missing posts I should be answering!)
@James
About a year and a half-ago, I believe (actually, less according to the link above...ah, my memory!). Maybe a little less. It was the same time that the commercial EULA was also changed to include only games under its license. The Serious Games sector for simulations, etc are required to contact licensing for information about special licensing. This was mainly because 99% of that sector had such specialized requirements that they needed to contact licensing anyway.
