Dirac / Schrodinger - new free, no pantents, open source codec

Hi,
I'm very much on the artist side of things, concerning game development, but as a solo indie developer I write also all my code (10.000+ lines). I was always fond of hi-resolution animated characters, but this comes with a high cost in download size of a project. That's why I'm very strongly concerned with graphic assets compression. My experiments with the current supported codec: Theora - gave me some strong results in size compression, but the quality is not the best.
Dirac claims to be comparable to the very best commercial codecs available (H.246,...). Would it be possible to have Dirac codec support in Torque Game Builder (TGE)? As far as I understand it can already be encapsulated in the *.ogg container and there is a stable final .lib software version (no alpha, beta)

The development behind Dirac seems to be solid and active.
As a newbie, I greatly appreciate any tips or pointing me to community members who might be interested and capable of implementing this.
Thank you and good luck with your projects!
P.S.: As far as I know there should be no conflict with the garagegames EULA, but I'm no expert.
