TX 3D Open Beta Bug - No project templates

by Minh Truong · in Torque X 2D · 09/12/2008 (10:20 am) · 7 replies

I installed the TX 3D beta yesterday but I couldn't create a new project w/ the TX 3D project type because they are not there. I have both the VS 2005 Standard & Express versions and neither shows the TX project templates.

Can I manually install the templates?

System:
Vista SP1
Visual Studio 2005 Standard
Visual C# 2005 Express

Have you installed XNA Game Studio Express 2.0?

Thanks for the quick reply and yes, I have GSE 2.0, but let me uninstall both & reinstall to see if that might work.

Wait... Do you mean XNA Game Studio 2.0? *** Not Express ***?

I don't believe they made an Express version for 2.0...

Correct... just game studio. I sometimes forget that fact and just pop the word express in there :) Sorry bout that.

No luck. After 2 reinstalls, still no project templates. Can someone just post the templates for me?

This is what I'm seeing in both Express & VS 2005 Standard.

Oh, I didn't realize TX3D Beta requires the Torque X Engine. I installed the eval version & can see all the templates now.

I must also say that GarageGames product offerings are REALLY confusing. I had no idea what I would want or need. Make it easy, guys.

Torque X Builder 3D doesn't really need to have the Torque X Engine installed. For example, you can have multiple level designers working with the builder that do not need an engine license. But, to make a Torque X game from scratch (from project templates), you definitely need to install the engine.
