Good ida for a game

Hi all,
I have a couple of ideas floating around, I have had a fair bit of experience making websites and I'm wondering how easy/hard the integration of some of these ideas into the game would be.
The game would involve participants all entering a house, similar to the sims, except using a 3d worldspace, think myspace but in a virtual sense. Ideally adding a interaction feature set, and integrating a social networking system into the core game.
It would be a contest, and voters will be able to watch these people online, living their virtual lives. Think big brother, but on a much larger scale, a huge house with 100's of bedrooms, living quarters. People would pay a minimum fee to watch the participants live their virtual lives, and paying a subscription can earn them the ability to use one ability on the housemates per day. This will allow each viewer to justify any time spent during the day. The most popular people stay on, and a percentage of the gross of the subscription fee's goes towards the winner of the entire competition. The contestants/housemates would be picked at random from the pool of subscribers and thus give incentive for the rest to keep subscribed, to both win a virtual contest, and come away with a lot of money at the end.
How possible do you think this idea would be to bring into fruition, using the torque game maker toolset?
Give me some reflections on this idea, do you think it would work? Etc.

I wouldn't pay to watch people play The Sims, but then I also can't imagine paying *real* money for anything 2nd Life related either. So there might be a market.

I have a shooter game idea that would be awesome. It would take place in the city but then you could move to other spots by car or plane. And you could do anything and I mean anything you could be a gangster or you could be in the military. There would be lots of weapons you could... A barrett 50 cal sniper or a mp5 with a scope or silencer. You could customize your weapons with scopes, lasers, lights and other stuff. You would buy everything with money that you earn from your job.You start of low in the job ranks.Until your in the FBI.You could ride about anything from a jet to a dirt bike. There would be thousands of missions. You could customize a gun by painting and putting attachments and then sell it online like an auction. You could race in the game. You could buy a mansion. You could do anything you want.It would be awesome.

@Aidan: What does that have to do with Alphasent1's post? If you have an idea, there's plenty of room for new threads in this forum, and it's the more polite way to go about putting your idea out there :)

I've always hated Big Brother, because it was so repetitive, but your idea sounds fresh and exciting. I hope you, or someone else makes it someday.

You need to remember though, ideas are a dime a dozen... In other words they are useless.

I think of about 50 game ideas a day, but guess how many of them I put together: None...

Anyways, what I am saying is that your idea is worthless unless you actually plan to make it.

If you say you are going to make an MMORPG by yourself with no money, no team, and no experience, then the MMORPG idea is worthless, because what is the point of an idea that won't be made?

It says you joined GG on 9/11 this year, so I don't think you have any experience using Torque, although I can't really tell if you know C++.

I am not trying to insult you, but many people join the site and then do this:

    1. Post an idea of their MMO project
    2. Try and form a team, where their pay is AFTER the video game gets sold
    3. Fail to form a team and then give up on game design.

People come here thinking game design is a simple way to make money or make their dream game... It isn't...

I suggest you learn game design first, then join someone else's company and start learning even more.

Start with one part of the MMO. Get yourself a character, have them walk around a flat world, then give the world some texture. Add networking so that you can walk around with friends. Then add combat. Break down the game into small steps, work on each part one at a time, you'll get to the end eventually.

That's funny... My biggest problem is coming up with a game I really want to make......
