TX 3D BuilderBeta2 Bug - strange behaviour using 2 monitors

by Thorsten Schmidt · in Torque X 2D · 09/11/2008 (11:35 pm) · 6 replies

When I use the 3D Builder on a different computer with 2 screens the following happens:

1. Start 3D Builder on screen 1
2. Open exisiting XNA project in 3D Builder
3. Add a terrain to the empty level
4. Drag the window of the 3D builder to screen 2

=> the 3D Scene View becomes purple. You cannot add objects anymore to the scree.
Changing to the Scene Level Data and press "Update Scene" doesn't help

5. Drag the window of the 3D Builder back to screen 1
=> 3D Builder crashes. No error messages.

Maybe this is not a problem of the 3D Builder but my graphics drivers.

2 Monitors? Wow, you guys are hardcore ;) I do all my game work by laptop. I'll take a look into this.

Try setting your two monitors to different resolutions. I'm not home now so I can't test that but my main monitor is much bigger and runs at a higher res. just a idea :).

I have 3 monitors and two GTX-280s.. No problems with crashing - Yet:) Although I have had some issues.

I do have problems with Graphics programs (games) moving from monitor to monitor if everything is not setup the same. Screen resolution, refresh, ect,ec.

I have a 24" main monitor and two 20" side monitors. The main monitor is HDMI the others are DVI. So I don't move heavy graphics programs do to the different formats. If they were all HDMI @1920x1200 I wouldn't worry, but the smaller monitors can only go 1280x1024.

Standard programs like Photoshop, web, Visual Studio, I have no problems with.

My only problem is I can't run SLI and Physics games due to a problem with Vista. One card runs the graphics, the other runs the Physics. They are working on a solution, but until then its no games in SLI:(
