TGB 1.7.4 for Mac requires OS X 10.4?

by Vern Jensen · in Torque Game Builder · 08/25/2008 (11:04 am) · 6 replies

I seem to remember reading on these forums that 1.7.3 (or 1.7.4? I forget) introduced a bug on OS X where it inadvertently required OS X 10.4 or newer, instead of the previous requirement of 10.3.9 or newer, as 1.7.2 requires. I haven't upgraded yet due to this. Anyone know if this is still an issue in 1.7.4?

Hi Vern-

I just attempted the install of 1.7.4 on 10.3.9. The application won't launch, so yes, this is still an issue. From previous discussion, I got the impression that this was a "feature" instead of a problem which was intended to be addressed. Just for argument's sake I tried compiling under XCode on 10.3.9, and had it fail there too (the project wouldn't even load) so I guess those of us on the older OS are stuck.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.

My projects won't compile with the 10.3.9 SDK, either. I guess it's time to upgrade, especially with a nice 10.6 bugfix upgrade out soon(-ish).

Any official word from a GG employee about this? Is 10.4.x going to be the new requirement for TGB 1.7.3 and higher? Or is this a mistake that can be fixed?

Hi Vern. Thank you for bringing this to my attention. You are correct in that TGB now requires 10.4.x at a minimum, and the 10.3 references on the product pages should have been removed a while ago. I will do that now, and sorry for the confusion.

Thanks Kenneth, good to know.

What is the most recent version of TGB that requires 10.3.9 instead of 10.4.x? And is that version still available for download?

1.5.1 should do the trick for ya. It should be available from your downloads under your account. If you have any problem getting it, let me know and I will look into it - but it should be there.
