What to do from scratch?

by Janet Fisher · in Torque X 2D · 08/16/2008 (1:47 am) · 2 replies

Is there a single document somewhere that gets you from a computer with no .NET, no XNA, no DirectX, no Visual Studio, and takes you to the point where you can see the Torque X 1.0 projects in Visual Studio and run the Game Builder?

I'd also be interested in a similar document for Torque X 2.0, and information about whether you can use your registration keys from purchased Torque X 1.0 products. Also, can everything (even the required software) run side-by-side with Torque X 1.0?

I'm having no end of trouble, because the garagegames.com product/installation pages never give a complete story, or they don't use consistent product names, or they have conflicting information. Or, the descriptions of the products give completely the wrong perspective.

To get to XNA ready state check out creators.xna.com
More specifically here

Once you have .NET >> Direct X 9.0c >> Visual c# 2005 >> XNA all set up and working then you need to install Torque X (TX). After that Torque X Builder (TXB)

Then after installing everything. The Torque X documents should help.

The video tutorial found on the page Vishal linked is decent enough to get you started. I will be writing new tutorials for TX, and will begin with a "Getting Started From Scratch."

Keep an eye on the Official Documentation Feedback Thread, as well as the TX Landing Page and Official Online Docs
