Harry Potter MMO

Hello,
I recently wrote out what I believe to be an exellent proposal for a Harry Potter MMORPG, but EA said they won't look at it unless I have a fully playable prototype. Anyway here's what I'm looking for, I need programmers, artist, and anybody else who would be willing to help with such a project. I can't promise anything like pay, but I do promise you that this is a massive project, and it will probably yield great benefits after we finish. Please contact me at gambit924@yahoo.com if you think you can help me with this project. You have my thanks!!

Harry Potter is a massive IP and any games made using it will be AAA titles. I would highly recommend choosing a much smaller book or creating your own universe.

As peter said you should start out a lot smaller. But if you really want to make a harry potter mmo i recomend
you make a small prototype of the game then ask people to join.

Not to mention, the IP hassles. Have you looked into the cost of the license to use the HP licensce and they usually weed out the waste of times by the size of the wallet. Unfortunatly thats how the biz works. you could rename the leads and have a indentical idea and not have to worry about any IP, name him Peary Otter. Hes a Magic using Otter Novice, that is going to go to school for the first time. His parents were killed mysteriously by a evil human, named the NoName guy. See same story. Totally different context. And you can do the exact same mechinics, only the names and IP has changes. Instead of Hogwarts. You might say they are going to BoarsWorth Acadamy. Run by a large, old Boar with lots of white hair and there is a Cat teacher.. and a owl teacher (the lady with the big glasses) and so forth..

Man i should just use this myself..

Hey Shara, hate to add on to the pile, but I used to work for a large triple-A game company that had 100+ staff and focused on making kids games (along with some 'grown up' games on the side), and back around 2000 we put together a giant proposal for a Potter MMO, and it got pretty far along in the review process only to be nixed. We must've spent 20 people for over 2 months just on the initial demo and proposal, and it still got turned down..

Potter is the uber liscense, it's almost untouchable. The company Amaze is also liscensed right now for most Potter games I believe, so there's not a lot of chance of getting that away from them, they're masters at liscensed content deals. If you're really into game dev and Harry Potter, you might wanna just try to get work there, it's a decent enough place, as big shops go.

Sorry, but honestly, for a small team you really will have a lot more fun making your own IP, and in the end that IP, if it's appealing, will be worth WAY more than just one game.

Best of luck.
