Flat map base

Is there a map 'base' available which is entirely flat? It seems a few people, including myself, are looking for something like this to work from. Too many people are using the 'New Map' from the SDK as a base and then flattening all of it manually from what I've read.
Thanks as always :)

whats wrong with flattening it manualy?... personaly I dont do that, I draw my own heightmaps and import them into the engine, it would be really simple just to go into MS paint, use the paintbucket tool to make a solid color (flatt terrain) and import it into the engine... I really dont think its necessary for GG to make this a default since if you familiarize yourself with the editor then you should be able to make your own maps however you want fairly easily

- Select the terrain creator, set the height range to 0.
- Add a Filter modifier, don't change any settings.
- Hit Apply.

A real easy way to do it in the map editor:- Select the terrain creator, set the height range to 0.
- Add a Filter modifier, don't change any settings.
- Hit Apply.

Is there any way to get the default land to be, say, 50 meters above sea level? Most of my maps won't have any sea.

I did that before, but all the land is below sea level, which is a bit of a pain :)Is there any way to get the default land to be, say, 50 meters above sea level? Most of my maps won't have any sea.

I dont really get what your saying, why dont you just move the water? I dont think you are very familiar with the editor, which is understandable, its kinda tricky to get the hang of, but ya, I think you should play with it a bit more untill you figure out how to do stuff, and try openening the .mis files and editing them in notepad, you can modify the water from there... have fun :)

Sorted it in notepad - I actually had a play originally, thinking the water was stored in the .ter files. Thanks for the tip :)

You need to go into the Terrain Terraform Editor (F7) once you are in the World Editor. There you can set the hights and apply the filter. Hope that helps. Matt

Its not a big deal, but I must say it would be nice to hit the new mission button and get a new mission,,not an error message.
All they have to do is make a flat empty map and name it newmission :)
