Maya 8.5 to 7.0?

Is there any way around the compatibility issues with different versions of Maya?

I want to use an 8.5 file in version 7.0. Does anyone know a trick or export plug-in option available?

I'm not sure. Is there a save option for older versions? It seems as if it would be a save option rather than an export feature.

Try exporting a maya binary file, then open it with the "ignore version" option active (open file preferences window). And cross your fingers ;)
