Unusual export problem

I am exporting a character into torque with max 9 and the darkmatter exporters, using a max biped, and one detial level.

it all looks good in the showtool until i load a dsq file at which point the characters mesh seems to become duplicated. One duplicate remains in the t-pose and the other follows the animation. the same effect happens in the engine. If I export a single dts with an animation embeded into it i have no problems. one thing i notice is that under the objects dropdown the characters name appears twice.

Any ideas?

Ok, im a spanner. turns out that the mesh was in the heirarchy and being counted as both a static and skinned mesh, just had to unparent it
