Momentum allows player to slide up the terrain

This was started as an issue with players walking straight up the face of a static mesh, but after fixing that, I am finding the terrain movement to be really BAD.

If I get a nice running/jumping start and hit a terrain wall, the player will slide straight up the wall and continue sliding around until they come to a flat surface on the terrain or until their momentum has worn out and then they slide down to a flat spot.

So how can I stop this retarded sliding around effect?
