Sports game

I know torque isn't the best engine for sports games since you would be letting its terrain engine go to waste. But how many sports games are there out there made with torque?
To be honest i think its a waste, i mean sports games are played by nearly everybody. I dont mean people play them religiously, but i mean everyone i know has one kind of sports game they play.
The replay value of sports game is also another thing people dont consider. If you look at games 10 years ago all you could do was basically league, friendly or tournament. Only recently have game makers decided to add "career" and other modes in.
I think that there should be more sports games made.
Possible Ideas:
Tennis
Golf (Although has been done, there are many ways to get player interaction)
Snowboarding (I thought this would be obvious)
Motorbike racing
Now i know people always say they will be commited but i honestly say now that if anyone is interested in making a sports game i would be there all the way!

But i have been working on games and mods for probably about 6 years now, so i understand a bit of each. I studied programming at school, i went on 3d modelling courses and I am a graphic designer, so each little bit of something has helped me along the way.
Are you interested in making one Niko?
I thought tennis would be a good idea, since it's rarely been done before, but golf is a good idea.
Anyone else interested?

Well I normally run teams by organising everything and handing out sections to each person. Guess i'm a bit of a game designer if you will. Although, I wouldn't mind a "Fantasy Golf, no no no you aren't listening FANTASY golf"
Ogres with wicked 400 yard smashes, elves who can chip a shot in with eagle eye, halflings and gnomes who can put as though they were only 2 feet off the ground, Oh wait they are!....
Powerups, potions, magic wand....err I mean clubs and more!! ....
Omg did that ogre just drive the ball into that tree...and through it!! Yep, Fantasy Golf.
Coming soon to a PC near you...
Again though, I love just being creative so I wouldn't mind adding to art assets or minor scripting at this point, I am in school about to receive my software engineering associates, so I can do a little rework on the engine code as well.
Tennis? I loved Prince of Tennis, (I am horribly biased and warped by Anime tv shows and decades of fantasy novels sorry)
Any one remember Graveyardage? or Blood Bowl? No? Go research, its time for a reprisal of those classics in my book.
Get us a Wii licence, one player drives the ball, the second one uses the control to affect wind or uses a magic hand to smack the ball down, great combat 2 player golf, Not Since Happy and Bob went at it on the green has there been a good Golf Combat moment!!! (See Happy Gilmore movie if you wonder if I completely lost it or not) Oh look at that shake the wii controller during the putt minor earthquake, collect powerups AND powerdowns to use against other player. (And yes I am watching for these ideas to be used...tsk tsk shame on you shameless game plagarist give me credit!!! :)
Volleyball and Dodgeball are faves of mine, loved the old games with the power shots etc, again kinda cartoony but alot of fun
HECK I KNOW lets build a Torque Sports Emporium of single play and network/tournament play games all the sports games you could ask for on a single server where people can join and leave teams and compete for prizes....small small small prizes....preferably funded by someone other than me......tsk.
Oh did you hear, Jonny 2334 is not only a star hitter in the TMLB (thats torque major league baseball) but he is a golfer now too!!
How about Animal Golf....no no we would be sued first time someone made "Tiger" woods..
(honestly I like the idea of a sports game I am not trying to be negative or a jerk here by the way, I just like over the top fun)
How about Kitten football, football but with kittens, hike the ball of yarn, Oh no the quarterback was pounced!!! (Everyone loves kittens), some people just love them far far away from themselves.
CURLING......NOT.
I loved the Olympic games series, Caveman Uglympics was great too, something in that genre may be fun.
I think I like the Fantasy football best though, Picture World of Warcraft or Everquest on a Football field.
Not particularily in spells but gotta admit a wide reciever elf who runs fast, or an Ogre defensive line would be fun, maybe a minor spell or mishap from the coach? naahhhhh.......maybe :)
Ooooh Points for uneccesary roughness.
Hard tackle, elf lost a head, 5 Yards...IN FAVOR OF THE OFFENDING TEAM YAY.
Ok, So yeah those are some ideas. If Anyone wants to work on a "Fantasy" football game we can get away with out being sued by Tolkein, TSR, Disney or any related similar games, gimme a call Heheh :)

I like the idea of a snowboarding game, tgea and its large terrains would be ideal. physics might be hard to get right, but definetely dooable.Good luck with your projects. all the wacky sport ideas above sound cool

It was created by Electronic Arts back in the day, i think on Sega Genesis.
It was this very original american football where you could playt in space or on asteroids and stuff where you could trip over rocks, fall down holes, and sometime when the guys got tackled too hard they would break into pieces.
The characters ranged from mutants to skeletions to aliens. Very cool!
What about a game like that?

Id be onboard if the game was an MMO baseball game that was designed to be as simple as possible and with the goal of getting on instant action.

Whats with all the MMO's around lately?

Do you have any game development experience? How small can you design the game? The smaller the game the better chance of completing it. Once you have a core finished, how will you add portions until the entire game is done?
Since it's for PC, you'd really need to figure out the control scheme for the game early on. Even if you recommend a joystick or gamepad, you'd have to allow for keyboard play.
I would probably try golf to start because the game is simplest. There is terrain, trees and a little white ball. There isn't complex machinery to model or extreme physics to test like you'd have with either of your other ideas. You don't even need to have a player character at first. You'd get to use the physics in the engine. You could definately have a career mode with tournaments players can buy into or be invited to. You could have the character endorse products as part of their career.
