Need help

by Alexander B · in Artist Corner · 07/05/2008 (12:56 am) · 5 replies

I am a very bad modeller. I use milkshape and i am terrible at making models with it. I want to be able to make houses and humans. Can someone please help me. I will pay $5.00 if someone can get me at a good level of modelling. I have an msn so you can talk to me on that.

Send an email to bishop.alexander@gmail.com if you are interested in teaching me.

Wow. $5 sure doesn't go far when it comes to personalized training. there's plenty of online tutorials for milkshape.

Ok mayby a bit more. I don't mean like 1 week otherwise i would pay a lot more. I just want someone to teach me the basics. I will pay around $15 if someone teaches me how to make a house, human and a gun with no problems.

Well hmm 15 bucks ok. Ill give it a shot. Ill do it becuase i believe in helping folks. For a house, you will need to pick up the constructor program, And this is where you going to need to practice. there are several cool tools here. Lets start simple.

used the create cube tool and create a box big enough to act as a house. Then once the box is created look for a tool called hollow, it will be under the modify tab. It will ask for the wall thickness. 0.5 is ok for now.

ok next step, lets make a door way. Create a second box, thats big enough for a player and put that box inside the second box and select subract, you will notice you now have a door (this is also how you make windows and doors, at least till later on when you learn other techniques) now you should have a simple house.

Save your new box house, and then export as legacy dif to your interiors directory. Start up your copy of Torque and check out your new house. Please note that learning proper scale to allow you to walk in is a bit of a learning process. You can scale the building in the editor, or use the add static inside constructor that will let you place a player to use as a guide.

Unfortuntly one practice will improve your skill.

heres a bunch of examples.

You can see some of the items here in my blog of pictures of my journey with constructor. Now as for making a human and a gun, im no DTS artist. I would invest some money in a prefabbed model. The Soldier pack comes to mind.includes weapons scripts, a human model, a gun as well as some addons.

Just some FYI, I have noticed your questions around. interesting project. But try to start simple. build your skills and gather the assets. A ounce of knowledge is worth a pound of questions. But questions dont hurt. Keep asking them.
