Game Studio Express, Tourqe Projects, Im confused.

by Co Xela · in Torque X 2D · 06/19/2008 (12:54 pm) · 4 replies

From the first game toturial, I understand I need some program called "Game Studio Express. I download it to find that the setup needs C#2005. I got that downloaded (and the service pack), and it lets me set it up. I have no idea where it set up to. Untill I can find it, I cannot make a starter game to follow along with the toturial. I tried using another "2D starter Game" that I found in a search, and it worked untill after I saved the scene, It could not run because "Game Studio Express had to debug the game" or something. Well, Im the definition of new at this, I really need help with the setup. Thank you for your time and consideration reading this!

There should be a folder in your programs menu that says Microsoft XNA Game studio Express. It's in there

If you are using the latest version of XNA (2.0) with the latest version of TX (2.0) then you don't need to find anything named 'game studio express' at all, you simply open up C# 2005 and your templates and such will be ready for you. It's not a seperate product anymore, it's integrated into the environment (with the game studio download)

Right now the big is getting away from the traditional TGB workflow and adapting the Torque X and C# (kinda like TGE and Torque Script if that make sense). One of the developers (forgot his name) is working on the "Torque X Book" (search this in the search bar). Keep you eyes glue to this... the book is finished, but is currently going through the publishing process.

John Kanalakis has authored the Torque X book, and don't forget about the 3D editor coming in the near future as well!
