Unique FPS/Assassination Game Features

I've recently resumed/started work on a sort of FPS that is pretty much just assassination. Problem is, that gets old. I'm an Indie developer, so I can't whip out stunning graphics and awesome physics. And this is my first game :P . Pretty much, what would be a few ways that are fairly easy to program, that would make this type of game much more enjoyable?

Perhaps try a little bit of assassins creed, a little bit of solid snake, a little bit of syphon filter.. :)

If you are not going to go for stunning graphics and awesome physics, why not try to put a new spin on the genre.. maybe something that involves mixing your own ingredients to create certain kinds of poisons to administer, or something that involves planning and making the assassination happen in a way that fits in with the environment in such a way that it appears to be a natural occurring death?

Most games of this type rely on graphics intensive shadows and lots of hiding in them, but I bet you could cleverly come up with a new twist on this type of game that still satisfies that itch to kill someone in a nasty way

You could try stunning physics anyway, since it's "merely a little math". Where did you get the idea that assassination gets old, by the way? I'm working on a kid-friendly game, and need to have something to unwind with :)

I suggest you play Hitman a lot. Play Blood Money to death, like I did, and you'll have a pretty good idea of its weaknesses. If you see any way you can improve some of that, you're well on your way.

Thanks for the ideas! I was thinking in that direction, so I think I'll stick with my current plans, but add in some player-made poisons and such :) .

@ Ronny: Well, I'm only 14, so I'm not really feeling up to doing "merely a little math" :P . As for assassination getting old... yeah, I guess it doesn't really (Those stick figure assassination games are F U N), but I'm going to try something different to maybe get my name out there, ya know, maybe even SEVEN (!) people could find out about me! Wow! (/sarcasm)

There is a sniper zoom tutorial somewhere, if you have a license that might be of use to you

Ah, yes. I found it. Very nice, I'll use it! If anyone was looking for it, it's here: http://tdn.garagegames.com/wiki/GUI/Scope

Start early with your math, before your brain turns to mush :)

I couldn't agree more! I took advanced maths in high school and in what little college I actually attended. Had I not, I would be screwed because somewhere around 35 the mind stops interpreting math tutorials ;p

This last school year (that just ended) I was in the most advanced math class my school offers, I will be this coming year too :P . I was in eighth, going in to ninth.
