Maya 2008 Mac crashes when exporting DSQ animations

Sorry for the cross-post with the Maya art forum, just looking for some additional exposure.

I'm relatively new to Maya 2008 on the Mac and DSQ exporting. I have a character model loaded into Maya, but I can't get a simple animation to export to DSQ format.

I've loaded up the Mac Maya2DTS exporter according to the instructions, and the model hierarchy appears to be set up correctly for export. I created a CFG file and the model exports to DTS format just fine, and loads corectly in ShowTool.

Next I added a simple two keyframe animation to the model that involves only one joint, so it basically just bends forward in a 30-frame animation. I followed Danny Ngan's excellent tutorials, added a sequence node, and tried exporting the sequence to a DSQ file.

While exporting, the animation plays back in the view panel, but when it reaches the very end Maya crashes hard, requiring a Force Quit. I've tried this numerous times, recreating the file and its animation, but it always crashes right at the end of the animation during the export process.

Any ideas why this might be happening? Are others able to export DSQs with Maya 2008 on the Mac?

Maybe its me or those Mac commercials where they poke fun at the PCs. I am coming the the fatal conclusion people here are poking me.

I am a Mac user but I guess that may not mean anything here. I just want to write games.

I just found out that the Torque DTS exporter is not yet available on the Houdini's Apprentice HD (maybe in August) for the few of us that use the Mac.

I use Maya for all my art work....

There is no way I can go on expecting something good from GG anymore.

I cross-posted this in another forum, but it appears that there is a bug in the Maya2DTS exporter for Maya 2008 Mac.

Since Maya .mb files work on both the Mac and PC sides, I loaded the same .mb file into Maya 2008 under Windows XP, and with the same setup Maya2DTS exports the animations just fine.

As far as I know, though, GG is not responsible for creating the DTS exporters for Houdini or Maya, so I don't really see the use in blaming GG. My understanding is that Houdini will have a DTS exporter for the Mac soon enough, so you can either be frustrated with them or just wait a little bit and you'll have what you need.

In the meantime, if you use a version of Maya earlier than 2008, the DTS exporter should work fine.

As for the Maya2DTS for Maya 2008 on the Mac, I'm not sure who is responsible for creating that. That would actually be good to know, so I can notify whoever created it that it has some bugs that need to be worked out. Anyone?

I'm not sure who was working on the exporter last, but Danny's the one that I think of when I think of the Maya exporter. I do not believe he has worked on it in a long time, though, and am not sure if he worked on the Mac version of it. I'll have to scan the Maya forum to see who it was. I'm getting it confused with a guy who was working on updating the maya2map exporter for 2008, which is a whole 'nother deal altogether.
