Does anyone know a good, affordable, program for creating detailed buildings?

Blender
Go to Blender.org to download it. It is 100% free and it is open source, too. I would strongly recommend giving that a try.

I don't like blender, in fact, I hate it. I don't know how detailed you could get with Torque Constructor, but I'd use it.

I use Constructor and 3d World Studio.

Personally i use Hexagon 2 for most of the building and prop content i make, also characters too. It is a fantasic program with an incredible toolset.

Check out my website, arteria3d. Everything you see there was made with hexagon 2

I've used Quark and 3D World Studio (not free) until recently, but with Constructor 1.0.51, I've switched over to Constructor 100%. The GG crew has done an awesome job with it.

As for how detailed you can get, check out this gorgeous piece by Peter Vieira. I'm drooling.

Don't forget that Jaimi has put many, many hours of his own time into making Constructor a better product because, well, Jaimi rocks!
