On Tgea 1.7 Oobe

I can at times be something of a Torque fanboi and this may well be one of them.

Having seen the engine evolve from TGE 1.1 (which still included copyrighted Tribes 2 models) to the package I installed today gives me a little tear.

I am more impressed with the packaging, distribution, and installation than I have ever been. For the *very* first time you can install, compile (with VC Express) and run the engine in under 5 minutes, assuming you have already installed all the pre-requisites.

That speaks nothing for the code cleanup that has occurred since TGEA 1.0. This is almost (yes, almost) a pleasure to read. I've learned to develop in patches so I can take advantage of the next release, however I'm beginning to reconsider.

While TGEA2.0 is still some far distance away, this is by far the best version of the product to date. Dare I say, for any of the high-end GG development products.

Nice job.

Bryce,

Thanks so much. That kind of thing really helps to hear. We'll keep trying to make you cry tears of Torque joy whenever possible :)

I've *only* been around for about 4 years, but I share your sentiment Bryce.

I don't see anything "fanboyish" about posting a compliment, especially on the site which distributes the engine =)

When you acknowledge improvement, you inherently state that there were issues in the past that needed resolving. A "fanboy" believes there was nothing wrong, is nothing wrong, and never will be anything wrong.

Thanks for the kind words Bryce =)

I really worked hard to improve the OOBE for TGEA and it is always good to hear that there was some success.
