Question about textures and Atlas...

by Katelan Moye · in Torque Game Engine Advanced · 05/18/2008 (9:14 pm) · 5 replies

If you import a map you created with L3DT, and it's all pretty and has the textures from L3DT....

Can you still paint roads and stuff using the in torque paintbrushes?

Thanks,

I was going to Buy L3DT, but even without having it now, i'm sure once you imported anything to the game, you can still modify it with the Terrain editor, all you will have to do is add new textures and paint em using the brushes.

You can't paint on Atlas terrain in the world editor. You have to bring the texture/s into a paint program and modify them there. Then export the Atlas file again.

You can use a height map created in L3DT (512x512) and use mega terrain if you want to be able to paint and modify in the world editor.

I don't want to use mega terrain.

I'll do more research on bringing the textures into Photoshop.. Do you know which textures to bring in?

There is some tutorials in Aaron's WIKI on the L3DT site. And yes you can import a terrain as a unique Atlas file, or as a blended. There are other solutions for texturing kicking around here as resources, and on the forums.
