Torque Game Builder for Iphone?

by Greg Charles Eckermann · in Torque Game Builder · 05/01/2008 (7:19 pm) · 3 replies

I've been coding around with Iphone abit, but do you think it's possible to port Torque Game Builder or even just Torque Engine to the Iphone OS? I mean performance wise speaking. I've been reading Unity is going to support it. But I'm wondering if Torque will have support for Iphone as well. Even if I do have to code it in Objective C instead of Torque script you still think it would be possible to even run it?

I don't even know if this has been talked about yet? I've been researching abit on how the OS on Iphone works and all, though I do not know if I could just use the mac version of Torque and tinker and totaly modify the code to work with Iphone.

Do you have access to TGB source? It has a separate series of wrapper functions to integrate it into the specific platform.

The code in TGB has been fleshed out quite well and means that you *should* be able to port it to the iPhone. However, for performance reasons, you might need to kull or adjust a few features.

It has been talked about in the General Forum on this site before, but I don't know if anyone has worked on a Torque (TGE or TGB) iPhone port.

I would recommend discussing this with licensing at garagegames dot com.

Currently, there is not a path to the iPhone. However, as Phillip notes, with the source, you could probably write a platform layer. You would also need to work with licensing on such a port since it falls outside of the general EULA for TGB.

It would definitely be cool.

TGB on iPhone is something I would be very interested in, as a licensee. In other words, if GG releases it I would buy it.
