Eli. Im just curious ... after doing what Mark suggested, T2 got better and I sometimes connect at 26.4. My best connection is really only 28.8.

I'm wondering if it might have something to do with your machine. Im using a:
Intel Pentium 4 1.4Ghz (I bought this 1.5 years ago)
640MB RAM (Cant skimp on this)
NVidia GEForce 4 MX 420 64MB VRAM (The cheapest one)
A real (External) Modem (not one the sleezy WinModems)

Last nights (or early this morning) game was a blast. I was in Houston Machines for four straight hours. I was able to do defence, offence, repair and bombing runs. I was even able to shoot down 5 shrikes in succession (w00t!!!) and I was able to do 3 successive assault team deliveries without crashing the transport. I think I was really lucky cause my tail gunner was l33t!!!!

Woohooo! ShazBot!!!

Oh gosh, I'm pretty certain of the reason. For one, I have an internal software modem, not to mention crappy phone lines. The second biggest problem is that I have an old NVIDIA Vanta vid card. It puts a big strain on almost any game I play. That isn't the main cause though, since even when I'm not viewing anything at all the game lags out (maintaining a connection to a server but not actually being an observor or a player.)

Goes like this:

1200 ghz AMD
NVIDIA Vanta vid card
128 Ram
60 gigs free HD space

I'm forgetting something... oh well. And yes, I've tweaked my modem here and back. :D

I used to buy modem after modem too...ohhh look V.90!! Well, then I decided that it was time I stop living in the past and spend the extra $20 a month for broadband. Trust me, once you have broadband you'll never go back to the blazing, lightning fast 56 (theoretical) kilobits/second WinModem. :-P

21.6k actually. My Uncle has a ton of extra modems laying around, so all of mine are free. :D
