Online JunkYard Wars

Here's an idea, it's similar to the show Junkyward wars. Anyways, the idea is to build a capable machine using parts from a virtual "junkyard". And competing them in mass with many other contestants ( i say about 2 - 60 ). So some contests would be about building the best potato launcher, fastest motor bike, etc.. Of course this would require a heavy duty physics engine. Teams are allowes to cooperate too.

It is an interesting idea. I know my roomates in College woulda loved it (they were enginerds and loved the show). The challenge is going to be making it easy to make something (for those that aren't engineeringly (zat a word?) inclined), and still technical enough for engineers to appreciate. Definitely gonna need some sweet physics (especially for as wide a variety as different types of vehicles, guns, and other mechanisms). Graphics really only need to be average. Another challenge is that as this is multiplayer, people wont be able to just start building. Because they are in teams, there is a need for a "design phase" which may be tough to keep fun. It could work though, if done right.

Ddn, that just might work, if done right. I'm not a real good programmer, but I've played alot of games, and that "design phase" would be hard to keep fun but if you do it right; you could make a very interesting (and exciting) game.

But it may work.
