After several months of hard work, the next release of vSide is finally live!
for those who don't know, vSide is a 3D MMO where teenagers party, make friends, shop from over 2000 clothing items, listen to 20+ different music streams, meet celebrities, own and decorate their own personal apartment, chill out and watch their own youtube streams, and did i mention party.
new in this release:
* own your own apartment !
- there are four or so different floorplans to choose from, from a modest flat to a uber-bling yacht.
- you can customize your space with furniture, as well as change the materials on the walls & other surfaces.
* play your own YouTube playlist in your own apartment !
- this is Really Fun. chilling on a virtual couch with friends, makin' fun of youTube videos or dancing to the tunes - it's straight-up Fun.
* streamlined First User Experience
- we've built a whole new world just for new users, to help orient them to what vSide is all about.
* completely redesigned website.
- we've redesigned, rearchitected, and reimplemented the website, and it kicks butt !
* special effects through ArcaneFX !
* photo albums
- you can now take photos of your friends in the world, and they automatically get added to your photo album in your web profile and to the recent photos stream on the website.
* guitar jam
- place a guitar in your apartment, and you & your friends can rock out!
* new dances, new clothes, new places to hang out, etc.
* there's tons more, but that's all ima put.
some technical deets for those interested:
vSide is based on an increasingly heavily modified TGE 1.3.4 codebase,
we run dedicated servers on linux, and have a java backend interfacing to the database.
some interesting stuff we've done this release:
* dynamically instanciate apartments
* dynamically place furniture
* dynamically paint textures onto DIFs
* integrate synchronized youTube video
* integrate ArcaneFX (Jeff Faust is fantastic!)
and now, a huge image!
