Help Needed!* Maya 2DTS Exporter questions

by Andrew Ryan · in Artist Corner · 03/09/2008 (2:09 pm) · 7 replies

My first question is:

How do you get the Maya 2DTS Exporter to function correctly? As I'm sure that I have placed all files in the correct locations to the plug in to function and within plug in-manager, maya 2dts exporter can ticked for both loaded and auto loaded options. When I export a model, a dump file/text file is produced saying:

"Setting up for full export (dts) -- turning on optimized meshes
Config file ".cfg" not found.

Config file ".cfg" not found.

Config file "dtsScene.cfg" not found.
First pass: enumerate scene...

Processing Node groundPlane_transform with parent world

Processing Node persp with parent world

Processing Node top with parent world

Processing Node groundPlane with parent groundPlane_transform
Processing Node perspShape with parent persp
Processing Node topShape with parent top
Processing Node frontShape with parent front
Processing Node sideShape with parent side"

and maya comes up with saying "No bounds". I was wondering if anyone would know a solution to this problem? By the way, thanks in advance for any ideas as I need some help!

Thanks

Your first problem Shaun is that it can't find the config file - do you have one?

Did you go through and complete (as in DO not just read) all the tutorials on Danny's walk through?

Here's the link I used. It is essentially the same as the one Dave listed but laid out a little better. If you follow the tutorials and complete the excercises, you should have not trouble. This is how I Learned to export from Maya.

Allan, there is also a good piece on Details and what they are.

Hai shun leach .
(im a game designer) i suggest you to use 3dsmax8 for exporting to dts .collision is perfect, creating mount point is easy .creating animation dsq easy . otherwise export .obj file from maya and import to 3dsmax8 .

There's no configuration file in the target folder. You also have no bounds. In Maya you just select the object you want to export and in dtsUtility window hit the Create bounds button.

Check the official docs first. That's always better than forums. Have some patience and read trough, do some simple tests first.
