Would anyone like to trade?

I am a art guy not the programmer type but i luv games and would like to make my own game... the problem is i sux at programing. thus i need someone to help me start out. so this is what i was thinking, someone write the source code for a simple game to get me started. this is what i was thinking it terms of what type of game, a simple 2d side scrolling mmorpg that could hold like 100 players, a game like SAO or sticksonline, it would only need one or to maps to start and one or two npc, and a few mobs. and maybe some sort of PvP system and chat system. just something to get the ball rolling and some more people willing to help. once the source code has been written i could add to in and kind of drag and drop some of my art into the came using the source code.
this would just get me started like the platform starter kit, so you would be making a mmorpg starter kit for me.
any way what you would get in return is a CD key of "Adobe Photoshop CS3"
and i do not have any kind of time frame right now, would any one have a guess on how long this would take to make?
post if you are interested in writing the code.
also if you just think this is a scam( witch most of you will) but still like the idea of a stick mmo and would like to start a teem let me know.

You cannot barter with Photoshop CD keys. That is wrong on many levels.

Perhaps an unopened, boxed copy of the full version (not academic, not pirated) of Creative Suite 3 would be more incentive for someone to hand over a very broad framework, no matter how simple it seems to you, that they could otherwise sell for more to a number of customers.

Adobe License transfer form
Of course, it might be considered fraudulent if you are transferring a license to a product which you claimed as destroyed on an insurance adjustment...

Starting a team sounds like a better option, especially if you are a trained artist. You could transfer ownership of the replacement from the insurance, but better to just get things going.

Good luck...

Caleb, you basically have few choices. Find a team, find someone that will trade you (thought I doubt that will happen), or you could start with a simpler engine that Torque like Game Maker. It can be extended to make it multiplayer and is really cheap and even has a free demo.Good luck...

Game Maker, MultiMedia Fusion, and other game development suites oriented towards low-bar entry into game development (Stencyl, once released, as well) are great places to learn. As a matter of fact, in researching documentation practices among game development texts, I've found the Game Maker's Apprentice to be one of the most intuitive texts that I've seen. Much better than the Absolute Beginner's Guide to BlitzMax (which is not bad by any means). I also really like the Hands on books on DarkBasic, even if I prefer the Blitz derivative of Basic's syntax more.

not according to the agent of my insurance when my place burned down in december '07. We had full rights to go though the house AFTER the insurance made their decision so we could take what we wanted.
Of course stuff that was considered no longer usefull by them but I thought was I saved the $$ by not re-buying it. IE my computer case was totaled so it was considered totaled. The HD's were safe though, so I kept those.
Besides, the insurance is covering replacing the disc. For most software programs, the key is useless w/o a disc & you need to buy both at once. So now he'll have two key's for CS & 1 disc.

Actually, the need for the disc is only for programs that do a disc check, which stuff like Photoshop, Maya, MS Office, etc. does not. For stuff like that all you need is a valid key.

So even though he can most likely give away the CS3 key, unless I can get a copy of the program legally to use the key with, it's worthless.

If you can't obtain the programs w/o a disc, you need the disc. IE In my house fire I thought I lost my copy of Quake Wars. I didn't NEED it because the copy on my HD still worked & all accounts for online MP are tied to a single database, but if I ever needed to re-install I couldn't because I need to buy another copy. Hence it was reported on my insurance. So even though he can most likely give away the CS3 key, unless I can get a copy of the program legally to use the key with, it's worthless.

Almost all software companies, be them game or otherwise, offer some kind of disc replacement program.
