Which Directx

I keep seeing different folks saying they run different versions. I am new at this, just learning. Which version do I need to install to start using the advanced Torque engine. Also, which version of C? Is it Visual and if so which version is ok? I just picked up 2008, but still have 2005 installed on another system. Appreciate any help here.

The latest 9.0c SDK should be good. VS 2005 works well, though I hear VS 2008 works well according to a number of users. Just convert the project, clean, and build.

I am totally confused. Reading through documentation on your site and in different books on Torque I get different answers. What would be the most stable way to go? Which version of Visual C and which sdk is the best way for a new user?
