Need some environment mapping help.

I can’t seem to get environment mapping to work on my character. Everything that needs to be enabled in a script is enabled, I put the Torque test character back in just to make sure and his reflection map works but my character is having problems. Reflection is checked in Max with no map applied and everything exports fine. Where I think I’m having the problem is with my super PNG alpha channel, I thought I knew how to do an alpha channel but that’s the only thing I can think of that’s causing the problem.
In channels I create a new alpha layer and paint everything I want reflective white and everything I don’t want reflective black then I export a super PNG, just to make sure I wasn’t getting black and white backwards I tried reversing the colors but when I load the character in the engine there was still no reflection.
Am I missing something or am I creating the alpha channel wrong?
