Thanks - so far I've found two issues causing crashes in the DIF exporter. I'm validating that my fixes work, and if so I'll get the fixes to Matt.

Initial tests are positive - the first problem would crash the map everytime on export. The second would only crash it when you tried to export it a second time. I'll get in touch with Matt to see if we can incorporate these into the codebase.

Hey, while you're at it, maybe you can figure out why constructor hangs up when i export it with some DTS objects in it.

Honestly, I think Matt did a great job with CTor. But if internal matters in GG mean that he has been moved to other projects then I REALLY would like the option to get my hands on the source code. I know it contains a good chunk of the engine code but I own an engine licence, I'm not sure why this would be a huge issue? Hasn't it been GGs policy with it's other products to release source to the community and we all chip in to make it better? I'm sure little bugs like this would get fixed much faster that way.

The most frustrating thing for me with CTor is that if I scale or rotate a brush/group of brushes, when I then try to adjust faces or vertices Snap to Grid doesn't work correctly. Basically, if scaling results in the vertext being a smidgeon displaced from a grid boundry, then if I move the vertex 1 unit along it will snap to....a smidgeon displaced from the grid line 1 unit away. I need to then fix it manually, which is time wasting. I think it is the manner in which transforms are defined in the code, could probably be easily found and fixed.....Honestly, I think Matt did a great job with CTor. If constructor source was released, i'm certain there'd be alot more "fixes" done. But i'm sure they're worried about some people using the source in creating/improving their own Map making program. Constructor has alot of unique stuff, i'm sure they're just trying to protect it.

You could say exactly the same thing about any of their products though, surely? Aren't they as protective of their TGEA code? But licence holders get their hands on that. I don't see why we can't get our hands on this. Just so, you know, we can all pitch in and support it.

Well i'm definately in favor of having the source released. I was just trying to think of a counter response they might have.

Maybe make "Constructor Pro" with source code available to holders of TGE/TGEA licenses?

With the ability to import terrain, and then export all objects dif/dts placed on said terrain as a mission file... like some sorta crazy user friendly art pipeline.

Now it sounds like UED....

@Ramen-Sama:
Perhaps this update will solve some of the problems. It address issues where there are Polygon Lists with no polygons, and Polys with invalid Zones. These issues seemed to arise from portals in Alex's map, but they're low level problems and might effect this as well. I'll send you a link to the 1.04 test build, if you want to try it.
@Alex:
I'll send you a link to the 1.04 test build also.
It'll be later tonight - I'll need to rebuild in release mode, move it to my server, etc.

Also - I'm going to start another thread for this, lets move the "Constructor fixes" discussion to that thread.

I will test the new build and give you a feedback.
