Im not sure if this is the right forum but i thought id give it a shot. but im looking for some programming help. i have a couple of ideas for games, that i would like to try and make (at least a test level). i currently own tgb and tge, and have ideas for both 2d and 3d games. my original plan was to work everything out, artwork etc and even setup the levels so the only thing left would be the actual programming. but then i thought what if i setup everything the completely wrong way and wasted all that time because it couldnt be done correctly the way i had things. im currently reading a bunch of stuff and tryin to learn how to do some programming on my own ( slooowwwwwwwly) but i thought maybe somebody may be able to help out. i guess right now is someone to answer some questions, like is it even possible to setup a test level and then leave it to the programmer? im used to just doin what someone tells me and only on the creative end. (insert dirty joke of your choosing). anyways, thanks for your patience guys and any help that is given.

Levi, it depends on the type of game you are attempting to make. Have you looked at the starter games?

Yeah, as i said im reading what i can find. ive done the the platformer tutorial ( and it pleases me to no end to see a stick man runnin and jumpin around.) i thought id start with a 2d platformer ( possilby a splatter house type clone), i thought that might be easiest and was hoping learning about the programming would help me understand some of the 3d programming. as luck would have it, i dont understand all of the 2d programming. but im tryin. and yes i have thought about joining a project, but my main concern is time. right now i have some free time, but when things get busy at work i dont always have a lot of free time, and i dont want to hinder progress on a project on my account, so i thought itd be best to go at it on my own. so i guess so far it looks like the best option is to continue on tryin to learn and add game elements little by little, while asking specific questions in the forums? or if i really want some stuff done thats too far over my head to handle, pay a programmer (which im not above doing if i can afford it and i think my idea is worth it).

Somewhere on these forums, a guy in NYC was offering to pay a tutor for help. Maybe you can find out how that went for him.

If you would be interested in it, I could probably give you some help from time to time. Depending on the scale of the assistance you need, my availability might be too low.Somewhere on these forums, a guy in NYC was offering to pay a tutor for help. Maybe you can find out how that went for him.
