How to make the audio get louder as player approaches

Hey I've been playing with the audio emitters but can't seem to figure out how to make it so the sound gets louder as the player gets closer to the emitter, it seems that whatever I do the looping audio is the same volume whether the player has just entered the emitters realm or if he is right in the center of it. Suggestions? Thanks in advance

Hmm, they don't seem to work like that for me, weird. The ones in stronghold for the fire and the water shore just seem to start when the player enters the sound bubble but doesn't seem to get louder as he gets closer

In that case the problem is getting a little out of my knowledge area, but I think it would probably be your drivers, or openAL in general.

Most likely, I'm upgrading my comp today and will have new onboard audio so we'll see what it does

Ah figured it out, the file I was using was a stereo wav and for some reason it wanted it to be mono, I guess the game gives it the stereoness depending on which angle the player is facing
