Megaphone - XNA Platformer WIP (Testlevel)

by Zilla · in Torque X 2D · 12/13/2007 (5:09 am) · 5 replies

I am posting in this forum to show all the users that do not have access to the private Torque X Platformer Starter Kit forums that this kit is really cool and to say thank you to the Garage Games staff for this great product.

I have finished enough (animated) objects for my XNA platformer so that I can experiment with a testlevel:

* player
* enemy (zombie)
* platform (static and trampoline)
* seamless background
* collectible object (megaphone)
* ladder
* HUD
* particle effect

Here are some pics and a vid:

Don't leave this thread until you've seen the video ;-)

Any feedback would be appreciated :-)

This looks great Zilla! I really like the outlined characters,it's like playing a cool iPod commericial. This will sound great with music. GG should add a "XNA Show-Off" forum, like the one for TGB. It's great to see the other projects in the works. Thanks for sharing.

I added sound and some additional objects to the test level of my XNA-platformer project.

This looks great. One thing I think you might want to change is the enemies width. They seem to be hard to kill, most casual players would really get annoyed. Make em a little fatter!

@Vishal
Thank you very much for your advice. The enemies are not that hard to kill as it looks in the video. All you have to do is jump on their heads. But you are right: because they are quite slim it takes a little bit more practice than to jump on a pancake. When I have added some more objects to the test level, I will release a demo where everybody can test the game play.
