Editing heightmaps already imported

I loaded a 256 x 256 pixel heightmap into the barebones demo (with tiling turned off). It worked great, gave me pretty much the mountainous look I wanted. Next I wanted to do a little touching up using the terrain editor tools. I couldn't get any of them to work! I can no longer raise, flatten, smooth or do anything else with any terrain editor tools...the brushes don't even show up. The commands appear to work in that nothing crashes, but they have no effect. At first I thought this was a bug, but I began to wonder if it is because my entire terrain is from the png heightmap. Does importing a heightmap preclude any further editing on it using the terrain editor? If not, does anyone know what could cause a situation like this?

Thanks, it's working fine now. I can't imagine the time and effort it would have taken me to figure out that turning off tiling caused my problem. Thanks for letting me know.

Terrain patches cannot be edited in TGE while the tiling parameter is switched off. Just enable terrain tiling in the editor, do some magic with the landscape painting and sculpting tools, then switch back to non-tiling when you're finished (if you want a standalone terrain, that is).
Good luck and have fun.
