Updated: Stairs plugin
You can now optionally create supports, and a right or left balustrade:
New: Obelisk Plugin
For when you want to model the washington monument. Or an array of monuments.
New: Stacked blocks
Someone wanted this a while back - lets you make a block stack. You can offset the blocks for a brick-wall effect.
You can get it in the update here:

When using the house plug in it works fine. I try to switch to a different plug in and it stays and defaults on the house maker plug in instead of say...the stairs. Any ideas or helpful hints?

Not sure - haven't seen that happen. Are you on the latest version (1.3)? Do you have a key stuck (shift, ctrl, alt) maybe? I tried to duplicate your issue and wasn't able to.

I also seem to be stuck with being able to only use the MakeHouse plugin. No matter what plugin I select, whether it be columns, ziggurat, stairs, etc, the tool panel always remains on the house maker.

Used to happen to me. I just had to reinstall.

Reinstalling didn't help. Made a lot of simple houses though.

Not much to installation - unzip to your plugins directory, keeping directory structure intact. This seems more like a problem in constructor, something is selected somewhere and it's not letting it change modes. If you have a webex or gotomypc account, I could look at your box and see if I can find anything. But beyond that, I'm not sure. A fresh copy of constructor and a fresh unzipping of the plugins should make it all work, if you haven't tried that yet.

Reinstalled twice and it worked the third time. Weird.

Yeah - doesn't work - is always stuck on build house - can you release the instructions on how to make the plug-ins work please and I'll fix it up.

How are you choosing plugins to use? Use the Operations panel to select the plugin you want to use via the Tools--User tabs. If you are selecting the plugins from the tools menu on the menu bar you will only be able to use the house -- nothing seems to fix this.

Try the uninstall-reinstall game. Sometimes it fixes itself. How are you choosing plugins to use? Use the Operations panel to select the plugin you want to use via the Tools--User tabs.
