Character Animations

How would I animate a character in torque. I could use 3ds, milkshape, but I read that maya might be the way to go which I don' t have. I have my own model and have animated it in milkshape, but I don't know how to get the character to use the animation. The character just currently slides around on it's stomach through the level and looks like it's twitching sometimes. I must be doing something wrong. Any ideas?

Like most corporate management types, they lack a backbone and thus can't stand on their own feet...

Check out the help file from www.chumbalum.swissquake.ch, the makers of Milkshape:chumbalum.swissquake.ch/ms3d/help/htmlfiles/Tutorials/AnimTutoPart3.html

After you make the character, you make an animation and export them both, the character to something like player.dts and the animation to something like palyer-root.dsq. I used the DTSPlus plugin.
You need to edit player.cs and commnt out or delete all the animations you havent yet made, and edit the names of the ones you have to point to your files. Trying to use a stock animation on a file you made, unless it has the exact same skeleton, will not work.
So unless you have some old, old version it should work if you get the names right.

Now there are a lot of things I cannot do well, but I was able to animate a character with MilkShape. After you make the character, you make an animation and export them both, the character to something like player.dts and the animation to something like palyer-root.dsq. I used the DTSPlus plugin.
