Select same material on faces?

Once you have a complex interior, all built and textured in Constructor, is there a good way to swap individual textures, already applied to faces?
My situation is that I have a VERY complex model whose faces I have textured, individually (e.g. on a given brush, 4 faces might have texture1, one texture 2 and the last texture 3). I want to select all faces that SHARE the same texture. For instance, I would want to make texture 1 active and then select all faces that are also textured with it. I tried clicking on a face that used the texture I want and from the menu "Select: Same: Material" but this only seems to work in Brush mode (not Face mode). Brush mode is not useful because of the multi-texturing on faces I described above.
Am I misusing the feature? Is there a better way? Thanks.
