Structural vs detail

Can someone tell me the main difference between the structural and detail brushes. Also do they both have collision on them.

That is a very basic and quick overview, but I hope it helps. Sun Yu's suggestion will give you more technical info.

Both structural and detail have "collision". Structural brushes are what I consider the default. Structural can be used in conjunction with portals to seal off areas so they will not be drawn once that given area is not in line of site. Also, when a structural brush touches another structural brush, it will cause those brush faces to be cut up. Structural brushes should be used for exterior walls, floors ceilings etc.. Detail brushes should be used for.. detail work. Brushes on your creation like trim, small objects, railing, etc that don't seal an area. Note.. a detail brush cannot touch or cross a portal or bad things will happen, and detail brushes do not cause other brush faces to be cut up when it touches.
