Parenting Issue

I have a simple model of a cow that I am animating a very simply tail wagging, I have the animation and the armatures working fine inside of blender. My problem is that as soon as I export the cow with the armature parented to the Detail32, the mesh itself gets really messed up. It seems that as soon as I clear the parent everything is fine, however then I cannot export the armatures. I am parenting the mesh to the armature and the armature to the Detail32. Any ideas on what I am doing wrong?

Yes, that screenshot is exactly the problem I am having! So if I simply put the remaining vertices inside a vertex group with a weight of 0, that should solve my problem?
