Question on Jointed Vehicles

I'm trying to find information on creating jointed vehicles, like an 18-wheeler. If there is a thread or resource that someone knows of, could you point me in the right direction because I can't find anything that suits my needs.
Barring any already available info on the subject, what would be the easiest way to go about this? How would I set it up sothe cab of the truck will turn, and then the trailer will turn, pivoting around the hitch? Also, I want the joint to pivot so that, when the cab of the truck experiences a change in grade, it will rotate upwards or downwards, and then the trailer will when it experiences that change in grade a few moments later.
Basically, I want the trailer and cab to act as they should..two separate vehicles that are hitched together with one pulling the other...not one rigid vehicle.

I'm starting on a project that requires 18-wheelers as well (driving simulator) and have been wondering the same thing. I've been thinking about using an AI Wheeled Vehicle class object that continuously follows the player vehicle, but there are obvious problems with that strategy.
A hinged vehicle would be a much better solution.
I'm glad you posted this.

Looks like I'll try the ODEscript resource for the joints. If it is plausible, I'll post and let you know, Aaron.

An example is:

which has educational pricing of some sort.

Depending on what you are really trying to do, commercial simulation software with visualization and industrial strength equations of motion derivation features might be an idea. An example is:

which has educational pricing of some sort.
