Your best bet, do what I did: Learn.

You can follow along in my blag, I'm in the process of making two anime characters now.

Here's some protips:

1) Anime is a 2D medium. You must draw your anime characters on paper first, then "trace" them with a background image in your favorite modeler. If you can't draw a character on paper, you should start there first.

2) Anime characters are asian. If you are having problems with how the model is looking, look at some asian faces. They have broad flat faces. It's little wonder that anime characters do too.

3) Anime is 2D, so things like eyeballs are actually flat.

4) Look at some garage kits, they express 2D anime in 3D form very well.

5) There is an expression that donates beauty in Japanese. It's "Kao ga Chiisai" or "You have a small face" This means that small noses, small mouths, eyes close togeather, and wide foreheads are attractive. Try and capture that in your character.

Does that help?
