Pay Job for Mac Programmer

by Paul Ash · in Jobs · 09/12/2007 (8:06 am) · 6 replies

This is a listing for a job offer for a rather good Mac programmer someone who knows enough about C++ and torque to convert all code changes from the Windows build of our game to the Mac version, this includes simple changes to support for MySQL.

This job will be a payed freelance job for a rather good amount of money but will require someone of a rather advanced competences level to convert 100% of the changes(they will be documented and commented in all of the code to make conversion easier!)

If you feel you are up to the task please post a list of your skill set.

This job is being offered by UNCG (University of Central Greensboro) DCL (Department of Continual Learning)

I might be interested depending on timing. I've done the Mac ports for the award winning Digital Eel games www.digital-eel.com/, among other things. Expert C++ programmer. Extensive experience in MMO development. Fairly familiar with Torque internals. Currently using Torque to build a Western MMO.

However, I cannot dedicate full time to this, it would have to be a side project on evenings and weekends. If that's of any interest to you, you can contact me at ezavada at io.com.

@Paul, I recommend working with Ed, I know him for years, and sincerely he is a serious candidate. :)

What kind of changes have you made?

I just wanted to keep my options open, but it doesn't look like anyone else wants the job

And to answer your question,

Added two new scriptable objects(Question and Dialog)
Added an object to connect to MySQL
Added simple support for mouse clicking in 3d space
Added a version of the software that should export as a web based plug-in

Its not going to exactly be an easy job, but it will be a well payed job.

@Paul, let's talk more about this. If it looks like something I can't do, or can't do in your time-frame, I'll be sure to let you know. The only one that sounds rough is the web based plug-in, but by happy coincidence it sounds like I'm already working on something similar.

@Stephan, thanks for the reference!
