Which Torque engine is best for this?

I want to make a simple 2d space game to start out. Then I want to move it to a client/server setup. Think multiplayer astroids. Then later I want to add in some mining and bases and buying selling of weapon upgrades etc. Is this possible with the 2d game builder? I really don't know about the client server parts, and if it can keep a item database. The only other thing I really see is then TGE which seems more 3d based and more overkill. Comments?

For your situation I would go for TGB Pro. You can always get the other game engine later if you need it.
